" By participating in this event, I am able to continue empowering others in the community as well as be a step closer to closing the gender gap in the field. It's been a great experience and I am grateful to be working with such an awesome team! "
" Building something from the ground up and seeing it become a reality is absolutely incredible. It's an honor being a part of the push for a more inclusive and open space for women and under-represented communities in this industry. "
“I am where I am today because of the people who have supported me in my tech journey. There is nothing more I want to do than give back to my community! In addition, I notice how putting yourself out there and attending a hackathon can really help one feel more accomplished in their tech journey. ”
" MarinaHacks has allowed me to be apart of something bigger than myself. Being involved in these committees has allowed me to virtually exercise my networking and frontend development skills. "
" I genuinely enjoy WiC's activities and have gained multiple benefits from them so I wanted to contribute MarinaHacks to provide attendees the best experience. "
" I chose to participate in MarinaHacks because it's a great way to support Women in Computing. I also knew that I could earn some experience in networking for events. I can't wait to see everyone at MarinaHacks! "
" As soon as I heard WiC was holding CSULB's first women-centric hackathon I knew I wanted to help out in any way I could -- I remember attending my first hackathon & feeling so nervous and out of place but I think events like MarinaHacks will be a great way for the women in our community to come together to learn from and support each other, maybe even make a few friends here and there! "
" I was recommended to join the MarinaHacks team by my boss, Tu Ngo! She recommended me to work with this amazing team so I could be motivated to do a project while in quarantine and it's definitely been a great experience to diversify my resume and learn the behind the scenes for big events such as this. "
" I want to contribute to a community whose mission I believe in. I am so grateful for those I’ve met during my academic journey who have helped me build confidence in my skills, and I want to give others that experience. I also want to learn more about the field and how I can make it a better place. "
" I think it’s amazing that people come out to these hackathons to build their skill in tech and go through the experience. Even better, it’s incredible to see powerful women come together and pursue their passions! So I wanted to get myself involved to make sure it is the best possible experience & to support my community. "
" I really want to be a part of something important that can help people. It’s nice that there are events that are women-centric especially in STEM and I can be a part of it. It’s a really great opportunity to meet and network with other women in STEM and support one another. "
" I chose to be apart of this committee to gain insightful experience, work with my peers, and be proud of being part of such an amazing team. I am all for bringing more representation into the tech field, so being a part of this event was well worth it. "
" Contributing to an event that is bigger than yourself is such an incredible feeling, and I am grateful that I get to pay it forward to my female colleagues though MarinaHacks. I hope our attendees this year will emerge from this hackathon with inspiration, motivation, confidence, and connections. "
" Helping out with MarinaHacks was a no brainer for me because I know how beneficial this will be for everyone, those helping and attending. I hope this women-centric hackathon continues to strengthen women’s confidence considering tech is a male-dominated industry and I hope more people are encouraged to attend in the following years. "
